Tripods and camera bags are probably the two photo accessories (necessities) that I have purchased most often over the years. On my most recent Fall Workshop, a couple of the participant’s were asking what would be a good tripod and head to buy and also that doesn’t cost a fortune.
Well I have gone down that road, trying to buy what I thought (at the time) was a good tripod and also trying to save some money. All I ended up doing was spending a lot of money on different tripods/heads that I wasn’t really happy with. And then finally, years after I had first started buying all of these different tripods, I ended up buying the more expensive tripod. The one that I should have bought in the first place. Does that sound familiar to anyone?

Doing my friends wedding and want to know if my equipment is up to par, my equipment: canon 5D mk2 430-ex omnibounce, 50mm 1.8 ,70-300mm is4/5.6, tamron 28-75 2.8, battery grip also manfrotto tripod, also will renting 70-200 2.
You don't sound ready but if you're friend hired you, they're probably not willing to dish out the money on a pro.

I'm still building up my Nikon system so I can wait. I have to say, I love the new R lens, super fast even on my older E-P1 and quiet with pretty good quality. Here's a picture of the new zoom lens with my E-P1. I don't mind getting one but I'm still likely to wait for my fast zoom rather than really get the 14-42 unless I have to, but at least I have something to look forward to. Besides. Anyway, we exchanged lens, my 17mm for her 14-42mm IIR.
Will a manfrotto 501 tripod head hold a 5kg camera?
I want to get a tripod fro a professional mini dv camera but I don't want to spend too much. can anyone suggest any tripods? I saw a Manfrotto 344b with a 501 head on ebay. Will that do?

Now you may wonder why I use both Nikon and Canon cameras, and its simply thanks to the fact Nikons camera suck for video. This is a bit annoying so if the rumors of a new Nikon camera out this winter come to fruition then I will sell the Canon and go back to a full Nikon system if the video specs are up to scratch. Now depending on if this new camera they may or may not bring out is full or cropped sensor will also decide what new wide angle set up I get.
