SanDisk ontwikkelt flashchips op 19nm

SanDisk heeft, samen met Toshiba, geheugenchips voor flashgeheugen ontwikkeld dat op 19nm wordt geproduceerd. De nand-chips met drie bits per geheugencel voor onder meer solid state drives hebben een capaciteit van 128 gigabit, ofwel 16GB.

De 19nm-chips die SanDisk en Toshiba gezamenlijk weten te produceren  zijn slechts 170 vierkante millimeter groot. Toch kan daarop 128Gb, of 16GB, aan data weggeschreven worden. De kleine featuresize -geheugen draagt daar uiteraard aan bij, maar SanDisk perst drie bits in elke geheugencel, een techniek die het X3-techniek noemt. Dergelijk triple-level-cell-geheugen is over het algemeen wat minder betrouwbaar dan mlc-geheugen met twee bits per cel, maar daarover spreekt SanDisk niet.

Canon har nok merket konkurransen fra speilløse systemkameraer og modeller som Fujifilm X10 på det siste året.  De minste modellene fra Nikon, Olympus, Panasonic og Samsung er ikke større enn en G12 - riktignok uten objektiv - samtidig som de leverer de bildekvalitet i speilrefleksklasse. Canon mangler foreløpig et systemkamera uten speil, men G1 X er kraftig oppgradert med en bildebrikkene som er omtrent seks ganger så stor som i G12 uten at kameraet har blitt voldsomt mye større.

Nikon ML-L3 Wireless Remote Control | Home Store Kit

If you own a D70 you simply can’t be without this item. Because Nikon chose not to include a mechanical cable release option (or an electronic one either), it is difficult to shoot at slow shutter speeds, even on a tripod, without getting camera shake affecting your images. You can use the timer, but that doesn’t always work for your shooting situation. With this remote, you get the same basic operation as a cable release as well as a bonus that you can put yourself in front of the lens and use the remote to trip the shutter release. It also works in combination with the self timer. One small concern is that because it’s an IR remote, you must point it at the sensor, which is on the front of the camera. This can be awkward standing behind a tripod, but not seriously. I really enjoy using this product.

Choosing a Tripod | Travel, Landscape, Nature Photography

Tripods and camera bags are probably the two photo accessories (necessities) that I have purchased most often over the years. On my most recent Fall Workshop, a couple of the participant’s were asking what would be a good tripod and head to buy and also that doesn’t cost a fortune.

Well I have gone down that road, trying to buy what I thought (at the time) was a good tripod and also trying to save some money. All I ended up doing was spending a lot of money on different tripods/heads that I wasn’t really happy with. And then finally, years after I had first started buying all of these different tripods, I ended up buying the more expensive tripod. The one that I should have bought in the first place. Does that sound familiar to anyone?
