The Nikon Coolpix S8200 seems to be just a shrunken-down version of the 18x Coolpix S9100 , with most if not all of the same shooting features. Instead of an 18x zoom, it packs a 14x f3.3-5.9 25-350mm lens in a camera body 1.3 inches thick. It also has a higher-resolution sensor than the S9100: 16 megapixels compared with 12.
I'd argue that while the lens is nice, the extra megapixels are not important. They don't bring anything to the table other than a big-number spec to get your attention. That said, the S8200 is capable of taking some very nice photos. It has some other issues that might not thrill you, though, so please read on to see if any of them are deal breakers for you.

Youl want a lens hood if your doing landscape photography, especially if your using a lower end lens. This keeps the glare out of the lens.
You will need a tripod if your doing landscapes.

i am a nikon user but looking to convert to canon if you look on amazon ther is a 18-200mm lens for £150 I suggest you get that it would be the best option for you because you dont want to change the lens very often, due to dust.

Lenses can focus to infinity (meaning the can zoom far away and still give clear pictures). The problem is not the focus, but the distance and size of your subject.

Sounds like your "18"-to-55mm lens will fill the bill for scenics-the wide angle of things. Now the telephoto is up to you. The 55-250 would in fact be the next logicial step.

I'm not a conventional thinker. I like my manual focus lenses, and I don't mind if they're old. Not a fan of the new plasticky lenses that all the manufacturers put out.

Doing my friends wedding and want to know if my equipment is up to par, my equipment: canon 5D mk2 430-ex omnibounce, 50mm 1.8 ,70-300mm is4/5.6, tamron 28-75 2.8, battery grip also manfrotto tripod, also will renting 70-200 2.
