I really love my Caselogic SLRC-205 SLR Camera Sling Bag . It is the perfect size for a DSLR with lens attached if you only need to bring along one extra lens (or no extra lenses and a lunch or water bottle). However, if the lens attached to my Nikon D7000 is my 70-200mm f/2.8G VR II then it doesn’t fit. The 70-200 lens fits fine as the spare but not when it is on the camera body.

So I decided to get a second sling bag, just a little bigger than the first (pictured above). Well, it arrived today and even though it is roomier, my D7000 still doesn’t fit if my 70-200mm lens is attached. Rats! I’m keeping it, though, as this bag can fit multiple lenses, lunch, and a netbook computer or iPad in addition to a DSLR with lens attached. The DCB-308 will be handy on my trip back east this summer. I just wish it was an inch or two deeper so that I could have my 70-200mm lens attached while carrying.

Trying this lens out at PMA was nothing compared to using it for my first full day out (wow what fun!). At 995 grams (about 2.2 Lbs) this lens makes a statement (and works your bicep). Although heavy, it still feels like a lens that you can walk around with on short trips. I recommend using a good comfortable neck strap on your Alpha or KM body if you plan to use this lens in this manner. Much different in build than the Sony Zeiss 16-80, bigger, heavier and with tighter tolerances, you can feel where the $1,749.00 (USD) price tag has gone too. Complete with a focus hold button and AF/MF switch on the side (like the 70-300G coming soon), aluminum lens barrel and distance scale, the Sony 24-70 leaves little to be desired.

Shooting usually portraiture and stuff like you might maybe call fine art if you are that kind of person who does so

My serious bag is Domke F-2 filled with Nikon D300 and F90, most reliable and lovely cameras I’ve ever used, both of them with 50 prime attached (35 on D300). Than my most favorite lenses 135 DC and 10.5 fisheye, there is no situation when I would refuse to take even one picture with these two. SB-910 for auto, Metz 54 for manual, cause there is never enough light, and for some more light Fomei Panther 600Ws generator with head. Actually the generator and light stands are the only things I cant fit in the bag, and have separate one for them. The stands are Manfrotto 1052 BAC, wonderful things, they are flat, light, and even can fit one in another by special knob, so you can carry as many of them like one. Of course some gels, cause white light is boring, many spare batteries, cause charging is boring, cards and film for quite the same reason, and of course the most important things: tape, knife and flashlight. Second bag is my daily one (top of page). I always carry Domke F-802 with Bessa / Lubitel / Instax / Nikon D60 + Lensbaby composer, its just nice to choose a camera for the day, never enough. Idea diary, my loved Cowon X7 as music / photo player, with tons of data on its huge disk, and finally kindle in sketchpad, cause I never found any good pouch for it, and actually I think these two things are inseparable.
